You Raise Me Up - TAPMI

You Raise Me Up - TAPMI

The first site I visited as an Architect was an ongoing store interior project in an upscale mall in Mumbai. As I timidly stepped onto the site, I saw the masons hard at work laying the beautiful full bodied grey tiles for the flooring. The unmistakable yellow bags of the UltraTech cement were lying in a corner, with smaller volcano-shaped mounds of cement, and a few trowels were on the side to mix them thoroughly. In the next 2 days, the walls were painted, the fixtures were attached. The site was slowly turned into a boutique. The clothes on the mannequins and on the display racks brought the store to life. The fabric was vibrant, breathable and the unmistakable pink tag of Liva sparkled under the lights. As the first customers walked in then, I felt a high never experienced before. But looking back, I see other details- one brand that is a support mechanism to another brand- in the limelight but also is the base for others brands to express themselves. These two diverse looking brands belong to the house of the Aditya Birla Group. But they are the same in essence-they support and help you be the best version of you. This is an important life lesson – for us to be good and do good for our friends and family, which will in turn raise us up. We can scale mountains and swim across stormy oceans and achieve more than we thought possible, when we stand by each other.

Challenge - an opportunity to grow - TAPMI

Progress always offers a new avenue for self-improvement which always comes embedded with inherent challenges. One of the biggest challenges I faced was while making the switch from being a student to a working professional. The key lesson during this quick transition was the effective management of time needed for the multiple responsibilities that I then needed to handle. This called for some clear and consistent prioritization. While being a student I always had enough time to work on assignments and projects related to my coursework. When it came to events and sport, I once again knew how much time I had left to devote to these activities and managed all three harmoniously. At work, I learnt how working in an organization means that your work and goals are directly affected by those of your team; how, as an employee of the organization you’re constantly required to align team goals with those of your own to produce the best results. I had to learn new processes as quick as I can in order to be delivery-ready on a day-to-day basis. Although this was a very steep learning curve, I managed to adapt to it, without losing out on any accountability. This challenge is relatable to successful organizations like ABG , where they have to continuously learn and grow to be in the top.

As the Aditya Birla Group’s 2013 tagline said; “Taking India

As the Aditya Birla Group’s 2013 tagline said; “Taking India to the World.”, the conglomerate was ironically one of the first few conglomerates to bring the world to India through there array of brands like Peter England, Van Heusen etc. Like million other Indians, the group has touched my life in this capacity as well. The brand evolution, which occurred in the early 2000’s was spearheaded by the Birla Group. With the acquisition of Peter England, the group started its play on the booming lifestyle market of the nation and has been going strong ever since with further additions to their arsenal of brands with Van Heusen and forever 21 etc. which are as reputed amongst the people as the older brands, ABG has shown that not only can they successfully find newer markets they can expand and capture them as well.

A Wise Decision - TAPMI

A Wise Decision - TAPMI

I was 14 years old when I got my first cell-phone. Before that, I remember being jealous of all my friends who already had phones, some of them, smartphones, which were a luxury back then. Even though mine was a hand-me-down from my sister, I was pretty content with what I had. I was r excited to start texting my friends and immediately wanted to get a calling/SMS package. But the question I had in mind was which network provider do I choose? It was an important decision as it was going to stay with me for the rest of my life.
