From Doubter To Believer - Avinash Vutukuru, NMIMS Mumbai

Challenges had always been part of my roller coaster kind of life. But the real test is how I face and learn from these challenges to improve myself. I always tend to take challenges head on and try to overcome them with flying colours. The key here is not to lose composure and keep working hard towards my goal even in the face of adversity. Challenges evolve me as a person and lessons during these situations will always help in my journey which are there to cherish forever. I would like to narrate one such situation here.  During my 7th class I was asked to give a live presentation of Abacus in front of an audience of 1000. The event was covered by the media. My task in the presentation was to work out mathematical calculations without the help of a calculator. The sight of the audience and the press sent shivers down my spine. From this experience I learnt that however adverse or intimidating the situation is one needs to believe in oneself and have faith in one’s own abilities as they are the key to a person's success. During such situations it is important to believe in myself. Sometimes I see others who are very dear to me lose the confidence in me. But the important thing here is to keep motivating myself. I face challenges everyday in my life. Rather than seeing these as hurdles I see these as lessons and chances to improve myself. Every challenge is special, and I need different strategies to overcome them.
