Life of an Intern

Life of an Intern

I was always stuck on taking finance as my majors and enter the luminous world of Investment Banking. Finance for me was limited to it. 2 months into the B-school and the Placement committee was all guns out about Summer Internship preparations. I could see everyone around me going crazy and doing all kinds of extra courses, following the herd. I chose to take some youtube sessions instead , because it was all the same. The first company that came to our college for a financial role was DELL. I had always heard about its amazing work culture, which made me curious to check its JD (despite of it not being from financial sector). The role was in alignment with corporate finance, so I applied.

I interned with a startup which deals with handling portfolios . It provides advisory services for trading. I was offered a 'Junior Forex Security Analyst' role which is a decent profile for an intern to learn about trading techniques. So I joined the organization with a lot of excitement. My internship started on April 1st.

My baby step to success.

My baby step to success.

After having joined MBA I realised that there was so much of the real world to know and explore. Being an engineering graduate did give me the technical view point but MBA gave me perspective which I prize the most. The moment you start your MBA journey your hunt to success starts and the first milestone being the summer internship. I was lucky enough to get placed on day 0 in FinTech company OdessaInc. I had heard a lot about this company from seniors and definitely wanted to get through. My preparation included a lot of studying about their product called LeaseWave and anything and everything I could know about the emerging leasing industry I went through it.

Internship with Odessa Technologies

If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you will probably want to know is how to prepare for the company. Odessa Technologies, a leasing software company are dedicated to provide leading technology and business process solutions to their client. The first thing I did was a research about the company through its website and read about the products, management and culture. There were 3 rounds- Group Discussion followed by two interview rounds. In the GD I was speaking on the topic to the point and was very confident because what I feel is, they looked for confidence and clarity and how well you can speak on the topic.
