Aditya Birla Group has contributed in some way or other in my day to day life. Consciously or subconsciously I have used a lot of product that is actually manufactured by Aditya Birla Group. The presence of the group is massive across different sectors like manufacturing industry, retail sector, mining, telecom services, financial services, fashion, fertilizers etc. It is the third-largest Indian private sector conglomerate with a revenue of approximately US$44.3 billion in year 2018.
With a vision to become a global conglomerate and a mission to deliver superior value to its stakeholders ABG has been successful in creating a high perception of the brand. Its contribution to the Indian Economy is spread across diverse industries, like Ultratech in Construction to Pantaloons in Retail.
There are two parts to this article. The first part focuses on my association with the Aditya Birla Group and its numerous brands over the years and the second part speaks about how I was able to tackle and overcome a challenge in order to achieve my goals.
From childhood, every Indian grows up equating the name of Birla’s with wealth, prosperity, passion for new endeavors and an unrelenting spirit of success. From the start of their successful ventures, the Birla’s have stood as a paragon of quality, trust and philanthropy. It is hard to miss the imprints of their legacy across the country, spanning schools, hospitals, places and worships and most importantly, industries. The Birla’s have been leaders and pioneers in every sector and industry they have forayed in, right from textiles to telecom. Aditya Birla Group has throughout the years, performed the enviable and commendable task of taking Indian products to the global marketplace, helping establish themselves and the country as a place of meticulous industry and a painstaking attention to detail. Rather than to choose to rest on its innumerable laurels, the group has sought to constantly keep expanding and diversifying over time, taking risks in new ventures and forging its presence by upholding its traditional values while sprinting towards new frontiers. As an Indian and a member of society, it is difficult to find a way to spell out their presence in my life – their sheer omnipresence is awe inspiring and magnificent. From educational institutions that I have vied to enter into, to places of worship my family has made elaborate plans to visit and now, to my dream company while pursuing an MBA – Aditya Birla Group institutions remain an indelible part of my life.
On 22nd Jan this year I received a mail for the CD-PI round from NMIMS, Mumbai-the attire for which I was expected to be in was full business formals. I was asked to report for the same on 01Feb in the Mumbai Campus. I initially wanted to get one tailor made but due to the time and monetary constraints, I had no choice but to go for a readymade suit. Also, the suit couldn’t be stitched before the interview date in lieu of extensive orders. I was looking for a brand that provided quality at affordable price which led me to Peter England. I bought the suit and was happy to find the right fit, color, fabric and all of this at a reasonable price. I cleared the CD-PI process with flying colors wearing that same suit and took admission there.
Aditya Birla Group is big in my life for a variety of reasons. Whether it is buying a new mobile connection, an insurance policy or new clothes, ABG is a big part of any Indian’s life. These are only some of the B2C avenues that ABG has conquered. With a vast portfolio of companies and industries operating in 34 countries spanning across 5 continents, ABG has brought pride to all Indians and is an exemplary example of what someone with the correct dedication, vision and values can achieve globally.
